Is Firefox v1.5.0.1 a piece of sh*t?

OK, enough already. I don't much care for sticking it to the man, I'm not so naive as to believe using Firefox means I'm safe or impervious to unfriendly code and, I am not about to overlook the fact that Firefox v1.5.01 (and earlier versions come to think of it) use WAY TOO MUCH systems resources. Enough to bring a variety of systems down to their knees (at least until the firefox process get a kill signal up it's ass).

Case in point, I had been using Opera and had about 34 pages open but then ran into some JavaScript incompatibility/wierdness on a website I was visiting. So, I retrieved Firefox v1.5.0.1 from purgatory and fired it up. Navigated to the choosy website and as I expected, the page loaded without any problems (Firefox has better JavaScript support than Opera imo). All good and dandy so I continued with Firefox. A few minutes into my use of Firefox, I've got 5 tabs open (Firefox "tabs" <=> Opera "pages") and, I pop up my trusty process explorer: Arrgh!...erm...get this, Firefox is using more resources - memory and CPU - than Opera. Five tabs versus 34 pages?. Get outta here!

I leaned back in my hammock, doing my best to think "I'm unimpressed but, at least it works right?" when Firefox suddenly decided to grap 100% of my CPU and hang on to that for well over five minutes!. It was so unexpected that I was stunned into inactivity for the millenia it took for life to slowly return to my computer as Firefox released it's choking grip on the CPU.

100% CPU?. Five+ minutes?. For doing nothing?.
Sayanora Firefox-san.

BugZilla on Windows?

Have you ever tried to install Bugzilla on a Windows server?. Bugzilla's documentation has this to say about Windows:

Making Bugzilla work on Microsoft Windows is no picnic. Support for Win32 has improved dramatically in the last few releases, but, if you choose to proceed, you should be a very skilled Windows Systems Administrator with strong troubleshooting abilities, a high tolerance for pain, and moderate perl skills. Bugzilla on NT requires hacking source code and implementing some advanced utilities.

At this point I find myself wondering about the lack of an installer for Bugzilla on Windows. Mozilla.org also produces Mozilla and Firefox and they have installers. Can anyone offer any pointers that ease the pain of Bugzilla 2.14.5 on Windows?

I'd normally just choose another capable product of course (like the OnTime defect tracker) but, I need Bugzilla on this occassion to evaluate it's integration with Perforce via the The Perforce Defect Tracking Integration (PDTI) product. PDTI requires Bugzilla 2.14.5 and claims to only work on Windows NT4 and Windows 2000. If all works well and we can use PDTI (or other Perforce supported automation mechanism) to reproduce this integration with OnTime, we would probably be switching to OnTime and using it with Perforce.

Just had a clever moment. Does OnTime already integrate tightly with Perforce?
